Having took it upon himself to fly the plane carrying the nuclear bomb into a very specific, safe location - Jack was hoping to get the chance to speak to his daughter one last time... to say goodbye.
Kim calls CTU from a woman’s phone that she had managed to hitch a ride from, allowing Tony to patch Jack through to her. Jack expresses his relief before going about the painful task of informing Kim of what he was about to do. A tearful Kim tells Jack that she is proud of him and apologises for the way she has treated him, and Jack tells her that he loves her.
A real tear-jerker of a scene, in arguably one of 24's finest hours.
Fortunately Jack is able to escape the seemingly inevitable, for reasons that will be detailed in a future Top 24 Moment.
