Having successfully faked his death to avoid the repercussions of his actions at the Chinese Consulate, Jack discreetly disappears from CTU undetected with the aid of Tony and Michelle. Jack thanks them both for all they have done before making his way. He then calls President Palmer to inform him that he had escaped, and to relay his thanks to him also.
President Palmer: This is probably the last time we'll ever speak. Jack, you do understand when you hang up, for all intents and purposes... Jack Bauer is dead.
Jack Bauer: I understand that, Sir. Mr President, it's been an honour.
President Palmer: Same for me my friend.
Jack then puts on his sunglasses, and begins his walk besides a train track into the sunrise; leaving his life as Jack Bauer behind.
