Having President Logan reluctantly agreed to pass on details of the motorcade’s route, containing the Russian president, Martha Logan decides to travel with the Suvarov’s in an attempt to stop Logan from letting the terrorists go through with the attack. Logan’s predicament was that if he didn’t comply with terrorist Bierko’s wishes, he would launch an attack on America.
With President Logan having seemingly made up his mind that he would have to sacrifice his wife along with the Suvarov’s, to his shock, he receives a call from CTU informing him of a possible attack on the motorcade. He is then left with no choice but to allow CTU to perform preventative measures by alerting the motorcade.
As the terrorists wait in position for the motorcade, Aaron Pierce receives an alert that the motorcade is under threat and to turn it around. Upon one of the terrorists realising that the motorcade was beginning to turn around, he begins to open fire. Aaron Pierce calls for backup as they continue to come under fire. A missile is then fired at the motorcade, knocking Pierce unconscious. He does shortly regain consciousness, opens the door and shoots down two remaining terrorists. The police then arrive on the scene, with President Suvarov and his wife, Martha Logan and Aaron Pierce all surviving the attack.
Mike Novick is informed of the happenings over the phone back at the presidential retreat, and informs President Logan that his wife and the Suvarov’s are okay. Whilst relieved, President Logan says that it won’t matter to the terrorists that he kept his end of the deal by not alerting anybody of the threat to the motorcade. Novick agrees, and says that they should prepare for their retaliation.
