Under the belief that there was a phone call waiting for him from Kim, Jack enters a building and picks up the phone. It soon becomes apparent that there is nobody else on the other end of the phone and Jack is captured by a group of masked men. Wondering where he had got to, Audrey goes in search of him and finds the phone hanging with no sign of Jack. She promptly alerts a nearby agent of the fact that he is missing.
A badly beaten Jack is dragged along the floor, before Cheng Zhi is revealed; and all of what is going on quickly becomes apparent.
Cheng Zhi: You surely must be aware Mr Bauer, that China has a long memory. Only 18 months ago you invaded our territory and killed our counsel. Did you really think that we would forget? Hmm?
Jack Bauer: I know how this works. I need to make one phone call. Please... just one phone call.
After his request is met with silence, Jack realises that he will not be granted his wish.
Jack Bauer: Kill me. Just kill me.
Cheng Zhi: Kill you? You’re far too valuable to kill, Mr. Bauer.
Cheng walks off, as the large tanker containing them makes its way to China.
