Having signed an agreement pardoning him for his crimes, Hamri Al-Assad leaves the Wallace house and heads over for transportation via CTU. Cutis Manning looks on, full of resentment at Assad’s role years ago in murdering his team members in the army. Curtis intercepts Assad and draws his weapon on him. Jack comes outside to discover the situation and orders Curtis to drop his weapon. “I can’t do that Jack,” replies Curtis. “I can’t let this animal live.” Sensing that Curtis is about to pull the trigger, Jack fires what proves to be a fatal blow to Curtis - as he falls to the ground with a look of disbelief aimed towards Jack.
Jack drops his weapon to the floor and begins to break down, distraught at the action he had to take. Bill Buchanan calls Jack to inform him that he had been told what happened and to reassure Jack that he had no choice. Jack tells Bill that he can’t continue working for CTU after what has happened. Bill tries to persuade Jack to reconsider but Jack is adamant.
